It's a Daddy's Girl World

My father is considered a traditional Italian male. My mother stayed home and raised me and took care of my Grandmother while he worked and grew his sheet metal construction company. In South Texas, my father and I could drive around and look at the various commercial buildings that he worked on over the course of 40 years and remember the blueprints.

But his daughters, we weren’t to be someone’s wife. In fact, most people would consider me the female version of my father. A “mini-Chuck” who is better looking.

Daughter’s who are raised by strong families are better equipped to be fearless leaders and are less apologetic for the decisions that they make for their lives personally and professionally. I make that statement with no hesitations, simply because I do consider myself fearless and that I come from a strong family.

My family instilled in me some strong core values and beliefs when it came to living my life in all aspects. My father instilled in me to always provide quality work. If it costs you to correct the mistake to make it perfect, swallow the cost. My mother, the thirst for knowledge. My grandmother, freedom.

If it can be taken away from you, it’s not a value — Nir Eyal

One exercise that I do with clients when it comes to leadership training and development is truly defining what core values are to them. It benefits people to know what you stand for and what you are aiming to achieve. It also a reflection on how you live your daily life.

To do this exercise, write down every word that you can think of that means value to you. For example, compassion, knowledge, personal development, love, wealth, work/life balance, write as many as you can in 15 minutes. Leave your list for a minute, take a quick walk, get that second cup of coffee and go back to the list you created. Narrow your list down to 3 or 4 key terms and define exactly what you mean by them.

If the words that you choose make sense, you’ll notice that you live your life daily on those same values.

This exercise isn’t for the faint of heart, nor for the person who doesn’t want to take accountability for their actions and face who they really are. If you’re ready to have this type of discovery, reach out to contact with me to schedule a call. We’ll do an in-depth two-hour discovery of who you are as a person. You won’t be disappointed.
